The Rise of the Empire Expansion for Star Wars: Rebellion provides new options for the original game. The expansion is largely inspired by the characters and events of Rogue One, introducing a plethora of new heroes, villains, starships, troopers, and vehicles as well as new mission cards.  The combat system, which was in general considered to be one of the weaker points of the original game, has been completely revamped into "cinematic combat" with multiple new units and advanced tactic cards for much more enjoyable and immersive combat sequences.  This page is dedicated to summarizing the new updates to the game.  More detailed mechanics of game setup and cinematic combat can be found elsewhere in relevant sections on this website.  A new double-sided rule sheet was released documenting specific changes to the original game as well as new game mechanics found in the expansion and is linked below.

Minor Skills

Some leaders have minor skill icons as represented by small icons on the leader piece.  Each minor skill icon allows the leader to roll 1 green die when involved in a mission.  Minor skill icons count toward filling skill requirements on mission cards.

Target markers are used by objective cards and mission cards.  The artwork on the marker matches the artwork on the corresponding card.  When a player has a ground unit in a system containing a target marker, and his opponent does not have any ground units there, he can remove the marker and any special effect as a result of removing the token is resolved.  The target marker is removed when a system is destroyed.
